At international headquarters in Connecticut, the Knights of Columbus last summer unveiled a new pilgrim icon, “Our Lady, Help of Persecuted Christians,” by Italian artist Fabrizio Diomedi. The icon is travelling from parish to parish across North America to raise awareness, show solidarity, and inspire support for persecuted Christians. It comes as a surprise to many, but the recent bombing of churches in Sri Lanka only underlines the fact is that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world and it's accelerating. The icon, will be on display in our sanctuary until May 26. All are welcome to join in praying for our suffering brothers and sisters in so many parts of the world. We will pray the Rosary in the church from Tuesday to Friday this week following weekday Masses. If you are unable to join us, you may wish to pray this prayer at home or work or wherever you are, between 9 and 10 am, or whenever you are able.
Prayer For Persecuted Christians O God of all the nations, the One God who is and was and always will be, in your providence you willed that your Church be united to the suffering of your Son. Look with mercy on your servants who are persecuted for their faith in you. Grant them perseverance and courage to be worthy imitators of Christ. Bring your wisdom upon leaders of nations to work for peace among all peoples. May your Spirit open conversion for those who contradict your will, that we may live in harmony. Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom, and to always seek your will in our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians, pray for us.
