In March 2018, a new diocesan project, the
Friends of Mercy, was created in conjunction with SASMAD/Pastoral Home Care, a service which provides spiritual support to those who are sick and/or elderly through visits in their own home.
The main objective of the
Friends of Mercy is to encourage the members of the parishes of our Archdiocese to become aware of the large number of those in need, to pray for the sick, for their families and for all members of the association.
We all know that Jesus met many sick people. We want to do as he did.
All Friends of Mercy are invited on the
11th of each month to offer their day for the intentions of the sick, their families and the volunteers who minister to them. In addition, we pray for all members of the association, our community partners and the parishes involved in caring for the sick.
Pope Francis has called us to be a "missionary church". We can do this by our prayers and by prayerful support of those who go out to be with those most in need.
New members will be asked to sign a pledge form and will receive a certificate of participation signed by Archbishop Christian Lépine.
We thank you for your interest in this ministry of prayer.
