With this theme, Pope Francis wants to highlight that his frequent appeals for migrants, refugees, the displaced, and trafficked people reflect his deep concern for all those living in existential peripheries.
The hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick and the prisoner who knock on our door today, are all Jesus Himself, asking to be encountered and supported, despite our struggle sometimes to recognize it.
At the same time, it is not only about migrants, but also ourselves, our fears, and our hopes. How does God encourage us and invite us? Who are we becoming? What kind of society are we preparing for generations to come?
May this day help us dare to meet one another and Christ - that it may enable us to cross barriers between us, so we may live the joy of encountering and being in communion with one another.
May this day help us dare to meet one another and Christ.
