Please join us on Saturday, June 1, for the 5:00 p.m. Mass to glorify Him and thank Him for this incredible gift to our Parish. The Mass will be followed by a potluck reception in the Parish Hall. At international headquarters in Connecticut, the Knights of Columbus last summer unveiled a new pilgrim icon, “Our Lady, Help of Persecuted Christians,” by Italian artist Fabrizio Diomedi. The icon is travelling from parish to parish across North America to raise awareness, show solidarity, and inspire support for persecuted Christians. It comes as a surprise to many, but the recent bombing of churches in Sri Lanka only underlines the fact is that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world and it's accelerating. The icon, will be on display in our sanctuary until May 26. All are welcome to join in praying for our suffering brothers and sisters in so many parts of the world. We will pray the Rosary in the church from Tuesday to Friday this week following weekday Masses.
Our mission is a response to the Gospel call of Matthew 25, to visit the sick and to meet Christ in that encounter. Pastoral home care volunteers visit anyone who is lonely, elderly, sick or homebound, and offer a listening ear, spiritual accompaniment and a community connection. A basic training program as well as ongoing formation is offered to our volunteers. Our next Basic Formation for new volunteers will be offered over six Tuesday evenings: May 14 through to June 18, 6:30 - 9 p.m. at St. Thomas à Becket Parish (4320 Ste-Anne St., Pierrefonds, H9H 4Y7) in Cahill Hall. Register at 514-925-4300 ext. 354 or [email protected]
Every day, refugee claimants from around the world leave shelters in downtown Montreal and move into empty apartments in every corner of the island. With no furniture, no contacts, and few resources, these most vulnerable families, often with newborns and young children, struggle to find bedding, kitchen equipment or winter clothing. Welcome groups are the cornerstone of Welcome Collective, and Montreal residents are locally matched with a newcomer family to help gather essential items, to spend time with the family and help them learn about life here in Montreal. If you wish to help make a huge impact on the lives of newcomers by ensuring that they have the support they need during their first weeks in Canada, more information is available on the Welcome Collective website at: https://www.welcomecollective.org/ or connect with Judy Wong at [email protected]

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, we will once again return to Parliament Hill in our nation’s capital to unapologetically stand up for the right to life for all human beings. This year’s 22nd National March for Life is very significant because we will be commemorating 50 years of legalized abortion in Canada—half of a century of sanctioned child-killing since the passing of former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s 1969 Omnibus Bill. We need you there to help us end Canada’s abortion legacy. It is precisely because of this somber milestone that it is so important that you make the trip to Ottawa if possible. Your presence at the March challenges our lawmakers, in the Parliament Buildings we assemble before, by reminding them that abortion is a human rights injustice and no human rights injustice ought to ever be permitted. Join us as we march for the more than 4 million unborn children who have been killed by abortion, for the millions of family members and friends who have been hurt because of this national tragedy, and for all children in the womb who remain at risk. To help you plan, follow the link to marchforlife.ca and download our 2019 National March for Life Trip Planner.
