Following temporary closure on account of some major work being done to reallocate spaces and set up new exhibitions, the chapel, boutique and Belvedere lookout will re-open as of March 1, from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first person who visits the museum at the reopening will be admitted free of charge! Study session (seven evenings) of the encyclical Laudato Si’, Praise to You Lord is planned for January – March 2020. One of the best ways to learn the teachings in this encyclical is in a small group. We will use the Jesuit Forum Dialogue Guide. Meetings will be held Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. starting January 22 until March 11 at the Archdiocese of Montreal (2000 Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal, H3H 1G4). Please note the exception of two dates, i.e. February 4 and February 25: we will meet on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. The World Day for Consecrated Life was instituted by Pope John Paul II in 1997, a day of prayer for those women and men who have devoted their lives to God in consecrated life. It takes place every year on February 2, on the feast of the Lord's Presentation at the Temple. In Montreal, you are invited to join Archbishop Christian Lépine and the Consecrated Religious for Mass on Saturday, February 1, 10:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (1085 de la Cathédrale, Montreal, H3B 2V3). Following Mass, the consecrated religious are invited to stay for a day of prayer, reflection, sharing and fellowship. RSVP required. The evening will begin with mass (come early if you want to go to confession) followed by a pot luck dinner and activities for mothers and their children. All married couples are invited to attend a special, bilingual mass on Saturday, February 8, 5 p.m. at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (corner René-Lévesque Blvd. West and Mansfield, downtown Montreal) near Bonaventure Metro. Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Christian Lépine. During the celebration, couples will be invited to remember the day of their marriage and renew their wedding vows.
Our annual diocesan celebration of World Day of the Sick will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at St-Isaac-Jogues Parish (1335 Chabanel St. East, Montreal, H2M 2N8). It is a wonderful opportunity to come together to pray together with and for those who are sick. Opportunities to receive the Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation will be available. Non-profit organization Souffle et Vie sans Frontières needs volunteers for the Marche du Pardon 2020 on Good Friday - the longest Way of the Cross North-South in Montreal that starts at 8 a.m. near metro Henri-Bourassa in St. Maron Church Cathedral and ends at 3 p.m. for the Good Friday celebration at St-.Denis Church (metro Laurier).
